spark on #4, winterization procedures
« on: November 02, 2005, 04:58:58 AM »
Good morning,

Here in western Mass, the leaves are turning and falling, as is the temperature, marking the end of riding season (we've already had snow). I took the bike out for a ride yesterday, and began to hear familiar sounds of a cylinder missing. sure enough, the #4 was cold to warm, but not hot, as the bike warmed up.

 what the hell??

I've ridden the bike over 1500 miles without this sort of issue, replaced in-line fuel filters every 500 miles, completely cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, replaced the ignition coils and plug wires...

what could be causing this sort of random intermitent problem? I've got spark on the #4, I pulled the wire while the bike was running and got a shock when I touched the handlebar. could this be the issue? a short somewhere that is cutting off the spark that is being provided?

but enough of that.

As I put the bike away after its first season, what should I do?? full tank of fresh gas and sta-bil, empty, dry tank, dry carbs? leave oil in?

it'll be garaged but not warm until  spring.
