The repro side covers have pros and cons. Pro being they are new and ready to paint. Con #1 being they are not the white easy to mend plastic the originals are made of. Con #2 I have heard they just look a little odd if you match them up with the originals.

Repro item I got for my K2 was a better plastic than the original. More flexible therefore less prone to cracking? It was dimensionally the same as the original, could discern no difference.

The K0 vented repro covers are the ones I meant. The white plastic the originals are made from bond super well with two part plastic weld. They can get old and brittle though. If you get the repros get them as a set and know that they might be spotted by an expert if you care about that.

Would you mind giving me a part number to search by? I can't find any side covers on their site at all, let alone K0 stuff. I know they have sold side covers for the later years in the past but I can't find them on the JC Whitney site.
Thanks!

you may also be able to try
www.crc2onlinecatalog.com
. I got my covers from here and they are molded a bit different and screw on instead of pop in tabs that break. The screw ins are a bit hard to anchor though. They paint decently though and with mild trimming they fit pretty good. I only have a problem with the right side which is where the oil tank is.

Neither of these do me any good. These are the same products made by Maier, in both cases for '71 and later models. I need a set for a '70 which uses a larger cover with louvers cut into it.
Thanks anyway.

As an aside - rubber grommets from the local hardware store fit nicely in to give you new mounting rubbers for your new sidecovers (soak in hot water before fitting)

RE: grommets - depending on your attention to detail, the grommets are still available from Honda for a few bucks. On the 550F there are some oblong ones, so I'm not sure a trip to Home Depot would do much good.

Round grommets become oblong ones when they see the hot water before they get pressed into the lugs
