throttle cable stuck in the carb
« on: June 05, 2009, 09:44:11 PM »
ok, so i just picked up a 1978 cb125s that has been sitting in a shed since 1987.  it's awesome! but i can't twist the throttle and i'm guessing this is carb related?Huh?
carb needing to be rebuilt anyhow since it is nasty, i have started to take it apart.  but the throttle cable won't come loose?
now, i know basically nothing, but everything i read says, just unscrew the throttle cable and remove it.  this is not happening.
i know 48 of you dudes know what i'm going through and know the answer... let's have it gents.

p.s. i realize it's not a 4, but i figure it's one quarter of it.  i also posted in the other bikes, but you guys are so much quicker over here.

Could be the cable itself is stuck.  Have you taken apart the right-hand switch housing and tried removing the cable end from the grip?

Hi,

I'm going to join B.Vaughan with the idea that the cable itself may be rusted to the inside walls of your handlebars or whatever.

I would follow his advice and see about pulling about the switch assembly and take a look at things......then the grip, and the throttle cable housing areas.....

i will def do that in the mornin'.  meanwhile i have the carb mostly apart and the throttle valve is unscrewed, but it won't come apart further, could this also be the cable? or is there more likely corrosion inside the carb that is freezing this thing?
