As far as I have been able to  research my family tree,
not one ever served in any armed forces in US/Canada/France
all the way back to 1568 AD.

What can I say?

My prayers go to all whom served in armed forces, you all payed a heavy price.
peace,
michel

My dad was a Marine fighter pilot in the South Pacific, he didn't like to talk about the war but he did share stories of some of the good times they had. I had an uncle who survived Omaha beach, he would never talk about it. As a child I was told not to ask Uncle John about the war.

lynchj,

your story reminds me of a good read in 'flags of our fathers.' the author's dad was one of the flag raisers at iwo jima.

the family essentially knew nothing about mr.bradley's experiences until after his passing. mrs. b said he'd frequently cry in his sleep.

even those who 'survive' war lose something irreplaceable.
