Watch out for wet leaves (obvious, I know)
« on: November 08, 2005, 02:08:47 PM »

Icing my knee as the 550 fell on it. Slid over from poor traction on wet leaves. Gotta love the jeep I was avoiding just kept driving. #$%*.

As for the bike, a couple deep scratches to the already flawed tank and some scuffs on the exhaust, both due for a repaint anyways

Sorry to hear that. Another treacherous stuff: cattle manure. It's very slippery, and the dripings in the mudguard are not a pleasant sight...

There is a book called "Chilton Motorcycle maintenance book", that in one of the editions -70's- shows in the cover a motorcyclist riding on a nice road covered by fallen leaves...

El Huero Loco,

As you know, with all the wind recently, the leaves have come down as though in a blizzard. Even the dry leaves in their little "drifts" can be treacherous. Glad to hear you survived with min. and repairable damage.

Again obvious advice but; look well ahead and look for areas where there are trees, bushes etc overhanging the road, particularly on  the corners.

Bummer dude, The leaves here are overwhelming and I get all puckered up riding around.
Good luck on Your recovery and the rebuild.

You have no idea just how nasty this stuff can be. I got some on a rear tire (we live in Amish country). The damn thing would spin everytime I hit it for over 5 miles! Damn horses!!!.

Hope the knee heals well.

Here one of my neighbors crosses his cows twice a day on a blind-hill 90 degree curve.
I know it's there & usually slow down, espcially after a rain.
The tourists usually buy one cow every year or two. ;D
