CB750a Carb question
« on: June 15, 2009, 04:51:27 PM »
I'm getting ready to rebuild my 1977 CB750a carbs and had a couple of questions. I think the standard carbs on the f and k models are 28mm and the a are 24mm. Has anyone with an a model added pod air filters? Since the center bore is different can I assume the pod is also? The bike has a pipe on it, if I add the pods any idea on what I should do as far as jetting?

Yours is a hondamatic?
Does it have PD carbs on it or the old style?

Yep, you have 24mm PD type carbs....pods to fit would be smaller diameter than K or F pods ( 28mm ). Stock main jets are 102's on your bike, with 4into1 exhaust and pods, I'd try 105 or 110 main jets......trial and error really.......
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Spanner, Thanks so much. Is there a place on my carbs I can measure, so I can order pods that fit? i.e. does the pod need to have a 24mm opening or is that the venturi opening on the carb?

As far as I know they would just be 24mm pods, i.e. they are sized to fit 24mm venturi.
