craigslist flagging trolls and post "cops"
« on: June 10, 2009, 02:51:38 AM »
i recently tried putting an ad up on our local craigslist for hard cases for electric guitars (i have 6 electric guitars now and not a single damn case) it was flagged 4 seperate times for 4 different reaons given. 1:wrong section, i put the ad looking for guitar cases in the musical instruments section i was flagged there because it was in the "wrong place" 2:"insultingly low money offers, i dont have alot of cash to spend, so i posted what i was willing and able to spend. i was flamed by 7 different replies to the ad before it was flagged for removal. 3:using "taunting" language, ok this one i can understand, i was really frustrated at this point and i put a reference to "posting cops" and it was removed for yet a 3rd time. i was cool with that one  4:poor grammar?????????? WTF? i didnt even see what poor grammar they were talking about, not that it's cool to flag someone for it! i actually had to go outside for a walk to cool down after that one, though admittedly, i had also just had a bad nightmare and needed a walk anyways. maybe i should have put this under the "political correct" thread?  ;D ;D ;D

Where else would you post for a guitar case other than musical instuments? Maybe it should be in the "wanted" section.  The poor grammar thing is kind of funny because there are so many really bad CL posts, some are just plain hard to read but I always found them rather amusing.

Possible but it is the public that flags things. A lot will flag things just for the "sense" of power they think they get.

I think there may actually be a higher concentration there.

Just like most tire slashings, graffiti, sign shootings, and vandalism in general, most of the obnoxious behavior on the Internet is by kids with nothing better to do than pull people's chains.  For me, getting mad about it is about as pointless as getting mad when it rains on my day off.
