So I've been working on my tear down as time allows.  The other day I was excited to receive my seat and tank.  But two things happened while I was working. 

1.  I broke this part of my hand grip.  I've done internet searches on hand grips, throttle controls, twist grips, etc.  But haven't found the replacement part or am I a dummy??? Is there a better term?



2.  The seat I bought has the attachments and lock on the opposite side than the frame.  Is there an easy fix?  I searched the website regarding seat modification and came up unlucky.  I think I can modify it, but would it be more worthwhile to buy another seat?  I suppose I got my numbers mixed up in terms of what years and the seat orientation.

What you need is called a throttle sleeve...I belive they are still available cheap from honda.

They fit like a gazzillon bikes..

My opinion is....get the right seat

Thanks KGhost.  I wish we lived back in Texas, my wife used to live in Corpus Christi. So I can't find the article about the seats, but is it pre 1975 seats that have the hinges on the right side?

I think its als called a "pipe throttle" in the parts books. New ones should be available.

I picked up a new MOOSE throttle assembly a couple of year ago for my F1. The throttle sleeve was identical.

Just bought a new throttle sleeve from Honda a couple months ago so you should be OK in that department.  I agree with the ghost, get a new seat and sell yours or take it back.

Ah, the old "this is on the other side for that year" trick. I got bit when I bought a 73 tank for my 75 and found the petcock was on the right side instead of the left. Easier to just get the things the bike wants I think.

I haven't found a "this part changes for this year list" - maybe someone can post a link if there is one - but a careful study of CMSNL will save you that kind of heartbreak.

Although, poking through the years it shows the hinges on the right side (facing the bars) on the frame for K0 through K6 750. Wrong model seat maybe? Looks like the 550 hinges on the left side?

Correct...a learning experience.  You are slowly becoming an expert in your field there.  Sometime you will be able to help someone else from your experiences.  But it is all fun doing the restoration.  Glad you got it sorted out.
