Where can I buy a petcock?!
« on: June 17, 2009, 09:02:34 PM »
Having a difficult time tracking down a fuel petcock for my '78 CB 750K.  I think a '77 will work as well.  Tried a lot of the Honda online parts dealers and ebay with no success.  Any ideas?  Thanks!!

There's a 77 on Ebay.  Doesn't look so good.  Sometimes I've settled for a cruddy part to keep a bike running, and replaced it later when something  better came along.  You've tried salvage places in  your area?

$80+ bucks U.S. plus international shipping would be more than I would like to spend, but I'll keep the link as a backup.  Thanks!

To be honest, $80 for new is not out of the ordinary range.  The '77 and '78 models used the same petcock, but it is different from the earlier years.  Since it was only for a short production run, the price is much higher.  When my mechanic was looking for a new one for my '77K, he too could not believe the high cost.  He did not know that, fortunately, I had bought one in the late 1980s when they were much more affordable and kept it in my garage.

Hondanut (Doug Sheldon) hooked my up.  $53 shipped including a fuel line  ;D

All of the other Honda parts dealers I called were out of stock, said part was discontinued, blah, blah, blah.
