Oil Filter Housing Gasket: Too Thin?!
« on: July 11, 2009, 03:21:14 PM »
OK - I know this sounds nuts. Like I'm looking for a problem that doesn't really exist but....

My K3 drips a bit of oil from around where the filter housing contacts the engine case.
While changing the oil today I noticed that the housing gasket that comes w/ K&N filters seems to be too thin. It appears that the lip of the housing touches the case at the same time as the gasket. It appears that the gasket isn't thick enough to compress & make a tight seal.
Has anyone else ever noticed this?
Do gasket thicknesses vary by manufacturer? (I'm sure there must be some variability)
Anybody ever compare a K&N to a Honda and/or an Emgo?

I know, I know. Shut up & ride.

But still...
