Front forks
« on: July 14, 2009, 07:34:23 AM »
I have a 78 cb750F that I'm working away at. One of the fork sliders is slightly pitted and I'll try & polish with 2000 grit but don't imagine it will help much as the pit will come back.

What other years 35 mm fork tubes will work on this bike and allow me to use the stock brake set up?  I was wondering if any of the next generation 750 forks would work.  I might consider just replacing the fork slider but it might be easier to just look for a better set of forks.

There's a good list of different fork tube diameters in the "Standard Fork Tube Sizes" link.

Are you talking Fork tube itself, not the aluminum lower leg.

I think you could fill the pitswith JB weld and clean up, sanding them flush will take meat off the diameter, which wont help.

Usually the hardchome on them is pretty tough. I may have a set.
Always wondered if they swap with the k3  to K6 lower legs.

Sometimes a good hardchroming shop will replate them for reasonable.. some are a bit too pricey.

Look for Hydraulics, cylinder rod repair or manufacturing.
