Paint Color
« on: July 15, 2009, 04:15:40 PM »
I would like to get some opinions. I own and ride a 74CB750. Its been in my family for a while and about the only way I'll part with it is if its pryed from my cold dead hands. It needs a paint job and I'm considering HEMI Orange. I would like some input on that color from other 754ers. Keep in mind I also own a restored 1969 Dodge Charger painted like a certain TV car, so I do like that color.

well, i being a true blue mopar nut, i say do it!

wouldn't be cool if you could incorporate the 'cuda hockey stripe with "honda" (or "750") where the engine cid woulda been? just make the tail follow the contour of the tank.

ooh ooh! or paint a bumble bee stripe around the circumference of the tank with the honda old style wing were the bee would... uh, be.

matt black?

Sounds like a plan! Black out the "Honda" on the tank, smooth the side covers and apply "01" to them. Oh wait - were you wanting to 'theme' it or just paint it orange? Either way, love the color idea - but it would look most bodacious if it was trimmed out with black parts to it in place of alot of chrome. Helps balance the bright color IMO.

and something else. some might be deterred because someone else has done 'it' but i say everything has been done before. putting your own twist on it is what makes it a good idea.

Ecosse,
That is one nice looking bike! The orange piping on the black seat is really a good touch that brings it all together.

No matter what orange you pick....think about some flake in it.  or  do a base coat of mother of pearl and the use a translucent orange on top...clear coat. either one would be awesome looking

+1 sounds good!

btw: like the two door charger but i don't think the state owned chrysler would approve.  :'(

too low to the ground for bombing around in the back roads but i'd take one... does it come with the daisy duke option? hubba hubba!

I think this has too much of a Harley look and not sure if you will get the desired response you may be after.

On the other hand, this original 1974 color is keeping with the ornage theme but better reflect the metal flake paint so popular of these bike a few years after your car was made.

Now this is a little earlier look, but keeps the orange theme with more of a hockey stripe.  Maybe you could use this to influence your stripe choice, but I am leaning heavily to the metal flake oranges.  Yeah I know you really like hemi orange.  I like peanut butter and jelly, but no on my bikes.
