Rear shocks
« on: July 15, 2009, 07:49:44 PM »
OK did a search on google and here and didn't really find much.   OK got a customer who has a wrecked cbr f4i  He is willing to give me the forks if I buy a set of tires from him at my work.  my question is who makes a good rear shock for a cb500f?  I want something that will work good with my front forks but don't want anything to crazy.   anyone got some links to some sites I can look at to get more info on rear shocks?

im still learning and well learning the suspention aspect of this bike would be awesome since when Im done I want to be able to take it to the track to see what It can do.

Sorry I don't have any links for ya, learning this stuff my self. Can you just bolt on those cbr f4i front forks or will there need to be some mods to the frame or to them?

ok yamaha r6 forks and gsxr forks have been done. from what I have rear the bottom bearing will work for a stock cb but the top bearing you will have to get from a yamaha sx i believe and run a spacer on the outside. been takling to a guy who wants to buy my parts bike and he has been doing the measurements and was telling honda f2 forks will fit with just changing out the bearing to stock cb bearing.  I was going to use f2 forks but like the way these f4i forks looks.

I can't tell you if these progressive shocks are ok from experience: I haven't made it that far in my project. However, people on here seem to like them.

if you call all balls, they can put together a bearing kit for the top so you don't have to use shims.

Check the project forum and look at the interceptor 550. He solved the bearing issue with the yamaha r6 front end. Almost positive I'll go this way during the winter.
