Our shop is having an open house on April 17th. So I wanted to make something semi wild for the onlookers to glare at.

Please excuse the crappy cell pics.

I had finished all of my other work for the day, I am either waiting on parts or waiting on customers to pay, and decided that I had too many parts just lying around doing nothing.

So this is the result.

Nothing too special. I'm just going to tack weld some brackets here... cut some stuff there... and then powdercoat it a wild color just for the open house.

Then strip it all back off and start doing everything the right way. By replacing everything with new and or fabricated parts.

But for now.... it rolls on it's own wheels.

Rear end is off of a early 90's Yamaha 4 wheeler.

Like I said... nothing is really bolted or welded on. Took me 20 minutes just to see what I'd be aiming for. So I figure just do a minimal attach job to make it roll and look decent.... then take it all back off and do it right.

I have now since named this project - Fokker CB.3 - After the Tri-Plane that was flown by the Red Baron. I figured 3 wings....3 wheels... and added the CB.3 for a twist on the original DR.1.

Not bad for a crippled guy and 20 minutes eh? Medical weight limits be damned!!

Nice thinking there, I can't wait to see the burnout video at the end of this build.
Damn it, I can't find that video of Russ Mitchell burning up the carpet at the Detroit Bros shop....

I haven't had the chance to do much of anything what with the finishing of the hiant powdercoating oven you see in the pics.

So I figured I had some time and wanted to do something fun.

For the record, the Fokker DR1 only had two wheels. (A skid at the rear, as airfields weren't paved back in those days)
There are quite a large number of Fokker models (even to this day) that have more than two wheels and many with three wheel positions. But, then so does Boeing, McDonnel-Douglass, Lockheed, Grumman, DeHavland, Cessna, Piper, etc., etc., etc.

I do observe...
It is going the create quite a stir when you cruise into the bar parking lot on that trike and put the kickstand down.

Just the mental image makes me grin...

You do realize the stock air box won't fit...

Somewhere I have a scale model built out of balsa... I'll have to find that thing.

Flew by attaching a rubber band to the prop and twising until it broke in most cases.
