My sweet deal
« on: July 20, 2009, 05:28:11 PM »
My early K0 has turned out to be a real sweetheart. After not getting the engine running I found stripped rocker shaft bolts and a stuck valve. The 836 was at least an 812. After seeing the oil screen thread on here I pulled the sump and found the pump screen to look pretty good however I noticed the frame is split lengthways from the sidestand foreward and the area around the motormount is full of braze and weld under the grease. Now I understand the smirk on the PO's face as he turned away after I handed him the money.
I am going to buy a K3 parts bike and do some welding [transfer] of parts. I have a frame tube kit from Gordon that at least has not been installed on this pos. A friend welds prostock NHRA cars and will help with the grafting of good frame parts onto the part bike. I don't give a #$%* it will still be a K0 and I still will finish it. I will ride it to the PO's house and show him how nice it is.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.
