The Flying Scotsman~cyclist champion
« on: July 20, 2009, 08:43:50 PM »
I just caught the movie "The Flying Scotsman" on NetFlix. No, it's not about Jimmy Clark or Jackie Stewart, or any number (there are lots) of Tartan Champions. Graeme Obree is a cycling champion whose broken a number of records, on a home built bike, all the while battling deadly depression. A true inspiration.

Below is a short story and interview with the man.

A trailer for the film.

Ha, banned his bike afterwards, and banned two of his riding positions.

Unbelievable.

i'm not into cycling but i remember catching a glimpse of a race on the tube once and seeing that 'superman' position. it stuck in my mind for whatever reason and i get a kick knowing now who came up with it. it's a sure sign of success when your are legislated out of competition.

the guy's about 2 weeks younger than me... i'm such a slacker.  :-[

did a face plant down near Southern Pines. >:( now I'm just peddling to get the busted leg back in shape.

Here's another UK rider, hey, he's a Mac what can I say.

I loved it when they buy the kids mountain bike seat in order to meet the specs...and then goes on to win
