i figured out tonight exactly how i ruined the old cam and cam towers in my k4. i put the little o rings around the oil jets in the head. thne i left the other 2 little ones out that sealed the other end of the oil passage that the jets supply. #$%* man, 2 2.64 dollar o-rings is what i forgot and toasted a low mileage 75 750f cam and towers.

Damn Bucky Katt, that hurts but like most cats know, it ain't no good crying over spilt milk (or oil).
I feel your pain brother I feel your pain. :(
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

thing is, i REMEMBER not putting that o-ring in. thinking at the time, OH theres no oil jet in the head, it's just a solid spot here, that means i dont need the o-ring. ah well.

Consider it a challenge to rebuild. You have the technology, you can make it better, faster and less original ::).

If you want to get "verbally" brow beaten you could always go over to the Gixxer forums and say that you ride with no helmet and no gear and you think its only for a track.

You'll get 15 pages of it almost instantly.

Either that or show a picture of your bike with you on it wearing only a helmet as protective gear. And be proud of it.

Or you could accept that we won't hurt you and maybe even help you find replacements?

Actually bucky, I agree with you.

You must NOT play with tools or sharp things anymore.  Pack it all up and send it to me, and I'll take care of it for you.  Bad bucky!  Bad bucky!   ;D

(Damn!  One of my cats just scratched me! Never did that before...  Why just now...?  Hmmm...)

Kghost helped me out wiht parts (thanks again tim!) i just take a long time to get the work done now. i can work for an hour or so at a time, too much longer and i start getting sick from how hot it is in my garage. its running with the new gear. pretty much all i need to do is bolt the frame section back in (removable frame kit from Ilbikes), put a chain on it, headlight in and i'm good.

I think the PO , who re-built the engine, did the same thing .
It would run for about 10 minutes then slow down and stop.
After swapping engines, I took the head off and the #4 cam was dry!
His wiring ability was crappy too.
