Got my UK K0 fender back from the chromers stripped of its chrome and nickel. It had been coated on the underside so not bad but corroded through at the sides where it is double skinned. I have cut away the bad bits back to bare metal and trying to tig weld in new metal and grind flat. I have also bought a spare fender on Ebay of the USA spec. 341 type but the lamp mounts are about 20mm further down the fender than the UK model, plus there is a hole for the rubber stop thingy. So on both fenders I am going to have to either weld in new pieces or weld up mounting holes. I think I can do this but what should I fill imperfections with, in order to get rechromable finish. My chromer says he can't do a thick copper layer only the normal hard flash copper. Can I use high copper content braze or if it has to be silver solder, then what composition do I need. My chromer is not being too helpful on this. I want to retain UK specification if at all possible. On the UK guard does anyone know the exact position for the information decal - I may be able to hide any imperfections in that area with the decal.
