It's been a long time since Honda US had a clue, I wonder if there have been any personnel changes there recently to attribute this potential to?

Honda is having a problem in the US as is everyone else. They also know that Harley is painted in a corner and could never pull something like this off. Honda has a pool of people who remember the UJM fondly. They also know there is a market for non sportbike and non twin cruiser bikes. This bike looks both rideable and badass.

I bought my 750 on 8/08/72 and still have it and while I thought about a CBX when it came out this is the first Honda I would seriously consider buying. Dan

That's how I read it, Lone*X, but I didn't want to be a wet blanket.  If it does end up being a non-US bike, we might hope that it'll eventually make it stateside.

Don't bet on it.  I'm guessing the MSRP will be near $11,000 if this thing even comes to the states.

Not that its makes any difference....Recentely American Honda offered a "voluntary separation" early retirement plan....and many, many people took it. Most were the good ones, so we are left with ???

And when I was a factory Service rep for Am Honda (1978-1988), any time the reps would cheer and clap for bikes like these at product planning meetings, the Japs would automatically write this response down as.....don't bring that over, it will never sell. Anything an enthusiast wanted would be put on hold or sent to Europe.

Contrary to what most people assume is... America is not that big of M/C market for Honda LTD, worldwide. Use to be in early 1970's... but those days are long gone.  Instead of this neat cooled DOHC we will get the V-4 Uni-Cam sport touring bike with Automatic paddle shifting....YUKE! Wait 'till you see the price tag on that one!

I liked the prototype better, but this is still much cooler than anything else new. looks more rideable than a bonneville, and less bubble-gum gimmicky. I like that it is in the spirit of the UJM standard that we have not seen since the 70's but it is not just some retro knockoff. it has modern equipment and a fresh style. hope to see more bikes in this vein.

and I would buy one if it's less than 9k and Honda offers financing to self employed painters.  ::)
