I'm fairly new to this site but what a great bunch of builds going on here. I've really enjoyed browsing around here. Also there is a lot of valuable and useful information on this site. I'm an old Honda fan as some of my bikes from "back in the day" were Honda. Not so hip on the newer stuff. So hope I'm not to imposing to share one custom project we're trying to finish up. We're mostly done so I'll spare some of the initial photo's and share some of the more recent details. I've customized many a hot rod over the years but not much in bikes, so this is one of basically two that I've done to this extent. Gotta say I like working on these smaller canvases.
The basics were: we bobbed the rear and cut the front to match up a bit. Rebuilt the engine with .60 overs. It had a 2nd gear pop out that I ended up welding, milling one of the peaks on the shift drum. Some had work with a dremel finished it up. So far it's holding well. I built the rear signal holder and wired up the entire bike with a new harness. Still working on some of that.
We got rid of the stock oil tank (or fondly colostomy bag as the owner called it) and built the tank from a fire extinguisher. Mike the owners idea. I welded in the original connections from the stocker and lathed out a plug. So far that's working as well.
We're not thrilled with the exhaust can as it scrapes and we can not raise it any higher. It sounds cool though. So we'll be looking at some other options for that in the near future. The paint is House of colors Tru-blue.
All the electrons flow from out underneath the seat. I tried to get them tidied up as much as possible under there. So far not to bad. Still working on some of that as well. Mike the owner went with the one new Speedo and we moved the ignition up front as well.
The rest is pretty stock I guess. I did cut the frame and bend a tube for the back of the seat area for looks. I wasn't sure how it was going to handle dropping in 2" but I was pretty surprised at how well it did.
Any constructive comments are always appreciated. Hope you like.
