Ok, for those of us who believe if a little is good, then a lot is great, here is what happens when you have too much primer (at least I think that is one contributing factor.) I was whacking the swingarm bolt out and hit the frame with the hammer, and the paint chipped. The paint layer is pretty thick and I'm sure the primer is part of it. The frame was one of the first pieces I sprayed, before figuring out that a thin primer layer is preferable to a thick one. The moral of this story, well there are several.

The first thing is I've decided I hate painting frames. When I do another frame I'll have it and the swingarm powder coated.

Second thing I've realized is that unless you are going to be sanding it down, don't due a filler primer coat, just do a seal coat. This will go a long way to keeping the overall thickness of the paint down.

Third thing, don't hit your custom painted frame with a hammer. You'd think that was obvious, but hey, just pointing it out.

P.S. If you want to post sympathy, by all means I'll take it  ;) Please just do it in my build thread as I have a pic of this unfortunate incident there. I'm posting this here as part of the things I've learned and as a bit of a heads up on painting and not to gain sympathy. I would like to keep this thread reasonably clean and on topic. Thanks!
Sure it's for sale! How much you ask?? Well, how much are you willing to pay??? Now triple it, that's the price!

I didn't read all of this, I'll go back to it.

just thought I'd mention- I'm a house painter and we have to create temporary spray booths all of the time. there are poles with springs in them and pads on the ends that extend to the ceiling and hold a piece of plastic in place which you extend out creating a wall and connecting to another pole. 4 of these and a box of painter plastic and you have an instant spray booth. I think they call it a zip wall but I might be confusing something else.
