Hello,
I'm Mike, a 3 year owner of a yet to ride (on the street anyway) 79 CB 650C. Frustrated is an understatement. I started this little adventure on the heels of a successful relationship with a little Suzuki GN400. Ahh, those were the days. Yet, I still hold out hope for a future with my new mistress. I've heard great things about the bike but I haven't experienced them firsthand. Without going into great detail I got this bike through a trade of an old pick-up. I knew the bike when it was still being ridden. It traded hands 2 times and ended up in my possession. Filled with confidence, I dove in. I bought various new parts and manuals and started in fixing some leaky carbs and seized front breaks. I wasn't in a position to continue because of a change in my wife schedule so I handed it off to a friend who enjoys this kind of work as well. Needless to say, the bike is back in my possession minus the manual, parts and a few vacuum hoses that once were there. Present are the bike, the leaky carbs and a weakening resolve. I have reordered the manual at least to help me along the way and I'm thankful that I've found this active forum to help with future frustrations. This is my last ditch effort. One step at a time I suppose. Bye for now.
