New 550 SS owner
« on: August 29, 2009, 09:16:20 PM »
I bought my 76 cb550 F after years of putting off buying a bike. I didnt want to go really fast. I knew I wasnt interested in the latest and greatest. I only knew I liked the way hondas sohc's looked. And now I really love riding them too!

Of course I suppose its human nature not to be satisfied with what you have. I immediately put some clubmans on my 550 and with a little help from my bro rebuilt and cleaned out the carbs-- added 30 mph to my top speed (huge grin)-- added some avon tires and here I am . . . .hooked.

I have my bike in Minneapolis, MN and if anyone has advice on local shops, etc who can help out Id appreciate it.

Things Ive been thinking about doing with the bike:

-updated suspension, shocks, front fork etc
- 650 cam? Yosh street cam?
- competely tearing it down, powder coating frame, all new gaskets etc
- rearsets, im sort of stuck on the terozzi look for the 500's but my 550 frame is different, dont like Omars selection

Hello hello,
Im also in minneapolis just started a 550 build a couple of week ago. im looking for a rearset that does not put my feet back to the passenger pegs. I have a sportbike for that ;D would be good to see what you went with for yours. Keep me posted.

Welcome to another 550F owner!
It's a great bike. I don't care for Omars bikes look either!

How about posting a picture of your bike?

I want to die like my grandfather did...in his sleep and not screaming like the passengers in his car!
