accelerator pump bowl
« on: September 09, 2009, 08:01:55 PM »
At the very bottom of the accelerator pump bowl on my 1978 cb750f is a check valve.  It was stuck closed and would not allow the bowl to fill with gas.  I soaked it for days and kept hitting it with compressed air.  I started picking at the small plastic piece in the center of the bowl with a small screwdriver.  It finally came out and revealed a tiny spring and ball.  My problem is putting it all back in.  I was wondering if the diaphram itself would keep it in position?   I think I already know I am going to have to order a new pump bowl from Honda.  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?  Maybe that center plug could be sealed in but what would resist immersion in gas? Thanks.
