My book introduction
« on: September 29, 2009, 06:59:17 PM »
I cant share too much of my book since Im getting ready to send in the first few chapters to the agent, but thought I'd post the Intro to the book and see if it gets you interested to read more. Thanks for your guy's support from my other post.

Introduction

If I were to direct a movie, it wouldn't start with the booming eruption of Carl Orff's, “O Fortuna”, Metallica's, “Enter Sandman”, or CCR's, “Fortunate Son”. No, it'd begin with the sweet, warm, slow bowing tones of a string quartet. Cellos serenade softly behind credits rolling in front of a creamy, blue sky as birds dotting autumn trees watch leaves drift aimlessly to the ground. After the credits, the camera would zoom in on some kids tossing leaves into the air, then pan to a dog with flapping jowls, chasing a cat through a yard, and finishing the scene with neighbors leaning against their white, picket fences, laughing, enjoying ice cold beers.

In my movie, there'd be no calm before the hurricane, instead, it'd be a morphine shot from beginning to end - an unforgiving bowl of happiness for those watching. It'd create a giant knot of humans, filled with serene unification; the world as one, holding hands, glittering peace, a Utopian Garden of Eden.

That is my vision of the perfect movie. But I'm afraid there's a problem, this isn't a movie, rather, it's my life, my world, as only I know it.

So be safe out there. Look both ways before crossing the street, don't drink tea that's too hot, and please, whatever you do, beware of people whose drawers are filled with sharpened butter knives. They aren't to be trusted, I should know.

I'm hungry. Let's eat.

It's going to be a quirky mystery thriller. But Im afraid it's just going to come across as corny though.

Piqued my interest.  Just let the story flow though.  Don't force it.  The characters will tell you the story.  It should turn out pretty good I would think.

Good luck with the book. I'm no literary critic but I'm interested.

i have to say that i've always admired and envied folks that could write books. i'll read a book every 2 days but i could never write, my hats off to you.
Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.
