I'm lucky, I can openly share my post pandemic plans with my friends. They no longer think i'm crazy. i've had a similar plan for the better part of 13 years. I've updated for technology, but they're on board.
I think it's important to have a plan.
Will you feel more stupid if you have no plan, or if your significant other wonders why you are collecting ammunition for a gun you don't have and canned goods in the attic?
Could go either way. I am not currently stocking up due, to i move around so much. perhaps I should get a long term storage unit.......

Yeah but then you would have to survive long enough to get there.

You should be storing a cache of supplies and weapons at each of your designated rendezvous points.

And remember, edged weapons don't need to be reloaded :)

I would run from a bladed weapon! Might as well LET them bite you! After all, the virus is transmitted by fluid so the blood would be infected too. If you use an axe or sword, good chance you will get blood on yourself. Better hope none gets in your eyes or mouth or some little cut! Or it is zombie time! ;D

bright side is apparently zombies can dance to thriller!

The bladed weapons are just for close-quarters combat, when the guns run dry (because they WILL).

It all comes down to the Japanese concept of Ma Ai, or the proper distance between opponents in combat.  One selects the proper form of attack based on the distance, just as much as one strives to maintain the distance one desires for the current form of attack.

I'm all for using Barret M107's from a click and a half away, so long as you have the time and ammunition.  :D

I still think the blood splatter would be too much. Remember, these things are rushing you! Well I guess it depends on the zombies! ;)

Oozie with a big clip. Two lightweight semi auto handguns with big clips and a large caliber revolver.
Ammo will run out.

That's why you get a fire axe.

One of those spikes to the back of the head minimal splatter as opposed to a, say blunt object.
They won't be fast. Rigor will be affecting most of the new zombie population for the first few days and it should be easy to tell a 3 day zombie from an older zombie due to decay.

I personally will be wearing a gas mask of some sort to prevent entry from face orifices.
Hand wounds from running, jumping, scaling, and fabrication are almost inevitable. Surgical gloves covered by armored motorcycle gloves will be the way I choose., to prevent blood entry, through existing cuts and lacerations, while preventing further damage that may be acquired in combat, whether with the undead, or the living survivors.

Whether you believe it will happen or not, The zombie survival guide is a fantastic book, full of "information".

Heh I've discussed this type of thing with a few people just for fun. Luckily my parents live out in the middle of nowhere and it'd be pretty easy to fortify their place. Unfortunately they live 4 hours from me.
