My "new" CB350/4
« on: December 16, 2005, 04:29:50 PM »
I took a bunch of pictures of a CB350/4 rescued from oblivion.  This is how it looks before I start my resoration. The pix are at http://www.plgcollectibles.com/images/cb350-4.  I have a lot of questions about various items with the bike that I will be posting over the next few weeks. Enjoy.  I would especially like to know if you have one also so I can bounce some questions off you. Thanks again.

Grappa, I couldn't get to your pics. I'm doing the same thing, rescueing a 350F from the scrap heap. I'm doing a cafe though, not a restoration. I've got mine there mechanically and I'm just starting the cosmetic stuff. I'm no expert with these bikes, but if I can help let me know. BTW, was it you that bought the NOS pipes for $2125 on eBay?? :o

gra... how many p's was that again?

anyway... check my 350 in the gallery or around on the boards... would love to convince you to cafe that out... the stockers are just way too boring in my opinion.  drop the bars, put a solo seat on it, maybe some bar-end mirrors and call it a cafe  ;)  looks oh so much cooler.

oh yeah, clear out those stock pipes or run some free flowers... these bikes sound great when unrestricted... mine has been mistaken for a litre bike just by sound... yeah, its loud  ;D

not sure i'll be able to help anymore than anyone else one here but, drop a line whenever you feel like.  and would be happy to send pics of closeups and what not if you need.

peace,
hef

I also just purchased my 73 350f. It's in good shape with only a couple of small rust spots in the original 4-4. It's one of my winter projects. Mainly just a good detailing, tuning, fresh tires, and probably bars from a 400f. I have a 80 cb750f/ss also and have owned
quite a few more, but I have to say this little 350 is really growing on me.

Heffay what bars and tires are you running on your bike?

Heffay what bars and tires are you running on your bike?

the bars are dragbars with the angle toward the knees.
have been running avons but recently switched the front to the old stocker and the avon is still on the rear... honestly... i cant tell any difference... performance is hard to come by with these little machines ( or at least hard to differentiate when my other bike is a racerep zx7r)

the tires grab and thats all i really care about... the washy suspension is more of a concern in the corners for me

Hey Grappa
I also rescued one of these from the scrap heap (only just though - it looks way worse than yours). Atm it is a "kit" bike - all stripped down. A mechanic friend is fixing the gear box and we are working at polishing engine covers. I am gradually amassing genuine parts [those pipes - drool - way outa my budget - specially with shipping to Oz]. Good to hear from other 350F owners.

Heffay- Have you ever tried clubmans on your 350? I think I'll buy both drags and clubmans and run the wires outside the bars. Should be able to switch back and forth in a few minutes. My switch housings are crap anyway, I'm not afraid of notching them.

no i haven't tried the clubmans... many here have though... i'm sure one of them will chime in.  i thought about it, but when i got to the parts store all they had were dragbars... so thats what i got for the 400f project.  i do like both.  as they are still in the wrapper i may change my mind though  ;)

Oh yeah- If any of you 350 guys need piston rings, there's a set on eBay right now. Don't have the link, just search CB350F. I put a set in mine, couldn't find any aftermarkets, so I ordered them from a dealer. He quoted me "$42 a set". Well, his definition of a set was different than mine, he meant a set for a single piston. Damned near floored me when I wrote a check for $175 for them.
