Switched out my clubman bars for Renthal low superbike bars. Will post better pics with before/after tomorrow. I have to finish up wiring and cable routing. So far, seems way more comfortable

About 2.5 weeks, but I left off some info on the paperwork. They mailed it back and highlighted the area I left blank, filled it out and I sent back.

Well after 13 months and 7 months respectively, I've got my BMW K100RS SE and Yamaha FJ1200 on "Club Plates".

It's the middle of winter here in Melbourne and only around 50+ degrees F outside, but I bravely braved the cold and took the "Bavarian Murder Weapon" for a short-ish 20 miles before I decided that I'd had enough and turned for home.

Tomorrow (if it's not raining) I'll take the big FJ out and stretch it's legs, but I need to replace the fuel hose first, as I think it's not much longer for this world. It really needs new tires too, but I bought a pair of "as new" 17 inch Yamaha FZ6R wheels and tires for it last summer that I'll have to do a little machining on to make 'em fit, so it'll have to wait for some new rubber until then. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

That looks good Dave, and anything must be an improvement over "Clubmans", possibly the worst handlebar ever invented, probably by a Chiropractor looking for work............. ;D

So now what Steve? You get it transfered over to Texas or are you selling it and transfer off the Vermont reg. to new owner? When I moved back to Cali. from Wyoming in 2004 I had to bring my bike and all Wyoming paperwork to DMV for a VIN and equipment check (horn, blinkers, mirrors, etc.) It wasn't that thorough of a check in 04' like fenders or loudness. Just looked at the Vin and the other things I mentioned.

Filled the forks with 200cc 15w fork oil.
Started "flood painting" the Honda tank badges on my pile of steaming.
Started the engine. But for a rattly primary chain, it sounds good.
Thought about building my own air box. I've got a set of rubber trumpets left over from my Rickman project, so could build a nice foam filter assy, without costing me an arm and a leg.

There is a "sheep graziers alert" on at the moment. Cold, wet and windy. No riding this weekend.

The Harrow vinduro (western victoria) is coming up soon. Looking forward to breaking out the IT175 and giving the body a workout!

Not selling, will get it roadworthy and then title/register it in Texas.

Did the final tightening of my tapered steering head bearings, and replaced the front wheel bearings! No sweat, happily. Rears today.

Did the rear wheel bearings today, no trouble getting them out, did manage to get the old bearing stuck while using it to push in the new one. Pried it out without much trouble, tho lost an inch and a half of skin on my finger..

Yikes! That's a lot of finger. Baking the hub for 10mins at 240F and freezing the bearings makes this a little easier. While they don't quite "fall in" to place, they do go in with gentle tapping.

Got excited my replacement VIN plate and new gauge faces arrived today. Will work on the gauges first, and wondering if I should reset the spedo to 000000 before putting it back together....

Finished the new bars, running wires inside, re-routing cables (though I think I may need shorter clutch cable). Ride is much better and more comfortable. Before and after pics...

Are you a smoker mate? I used to carry a little piece of the foil from a cigarette packet and if I blew a fuse I'd wrap the foil around the fuse and it'd get me home. No idea what the amperage rating of cigarette packet foil is, and of course if you've got a serious short it could do more damage to your electrical system, but pushing motorcycles sucks, and it got me home. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks Terry for suggestion.  Tried using chewing gum wrappers.  Didn't work out.  So yeah pushed home.  Just now I checked fuse and all, it's all good and took it out for a short ride.  I'm puzzled.  ???

Hmmnn, that is odd, and the chewing gum wrappers should have worked, I would have thought? Maybe the fuse holder is at fault? I threw away the OEM Honda holder on my K1 and bought an accessory holder that takes the flat blade fuses and haven't had a problem in years? Cheers, Terry. ;D

I keep a set of those snap in blade fuse holders. Like a self splice. Put wires in, close top and insert fuse....ride home. (Carry a cell phone)

Last time my bike broke down it was because the throttle cable snapped. Pushed to my father in laws house and he said " why didn't you just use the clutch and ride it here" as I huffed and I puffed. Oh yeah........
