Well it was the first day of my annual leave today, I don't go back to work until January the 18th, woohoo! The temps were hovering around 100 degrees today, and seeing that I slept in until around 9 am, by the time I had breakfast and checked my email it was hot, damn hot, too hot to do anything but sit in my air-conditioned lounge room and watch a brazillion episodes of American Chopper, Biker Build off, American Hot Rod etc, while sipping some cool refreshing beveridges.

I did manage to finish cleaning up my F2 master that I stripped and blasted a year ago, and etch primed it. Tomorrow I'll give it a shot of engine enamel and bake it on @ 250 deg F for an hour or so before I install the rebuild kit and re-install it. Hopefully I'll also finish the rebuild on Al's 550/592, and maybe get a ride in on the K0 too. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

i switched the battery tender around from the 400 to the 750.  Patted both bikes on the seat and then opened a beer and had a smoke with them.
I don't want it to go like a motorcycle, I want it to go like a rocket!

I cleaned my carbs(second time in 3 days) And set floats properly on my 750f. Set cam chain retimed and set points. VAARRROOOOMMM. Sounds great. So good I put the airbox back on. Im not sure the breather hose will ever get back on airbox. Parts from Service Honda should arrive tommorow so hopefully in 36 hours it will have front brakes.Still have to do a 530 conversion on chain. The chain on it now is swelling with rust.More to come.

Got my confirmation email that all my parts have been sent. None of that "Sorry, we don't actually have this part, that part..." crap. If it isn't available, they say so in the fiche. Compared to 3 other places, I saved over $50 on a just a short list of things. I'm liking Hondapartsnation a lot. Come on UPS chickie!!  8)

I rode my normal 28 mile commute (one way) which was a change since I've been fighting a sinus infection or out of town a lot lately.  At work I got e-mail confirmation that my new clutch cable, clutch springs, and speedometer drive have been shipped from the three separate vendors.

Now I have to wait until Sunday (more probably Monday) to do anything as I'm going to Lake Louise, Canada with my law firm for a study retreat.  If I don't freeze anything off and I can catch the early flight back Sunday, I may install the engine guards that were kindly given me by JordanP on this board.  The rest can wait until next week during Christmas break.

Bikey is currently on the battery tender where he will stay until I return.  :'(

And then there's that oil use problem...

And does anybody know a good site for Honda CX500 bikes (the Guzzi look-a-like Honda from the 80s)?  I may be inheriting one from a friend.  ;D

Well I spent the day chasing my tail and getting p1ssed off. I painted my F2 front MC and baked it for an hour or so to help with the paint's resistance to brake fluid. So far so good.

I dug thru three boxes of parts before I found the rebuild kit, got out my parts manual to see what order to reassemble everything, then as I installed the piston and pushed it down against spring pressure, the fcuker leapt out of the MC and fell behind my mill! After about an hour, I discovered that it had actually fallen out of my garage and was lodged between the garage's outer wall and the garden shed behind it, and of course the piston is cast crap that's not magnetic, so I had to fish around with a custom made hook to get the bugger out.

OK, so I cleaned up the mess I made looking for it, then re-installed it, then went looking for a brake lever. I've got a nice shiny one with a rubber tip somewhere, but after another hour or so I gave up looking for it, and I'll go buy one tomorrow. I refitted the MC to the F2's bars (which I might replace tomorrow as well) and filled the reservoir and cracked open the bleeder valves on the front calipers so hopefully, all the air will bleed out overnight tonight. Maybe. Cheers, Terry. ;D

reunited the cases (!!)
followed the proper torque sequence even; feeling good about things.

A snow storm is reportedly moving in so I'll have to pass on riding to the the Guzzi Christmas lunch Saturday :'(

No worries, I have beer in the fridge, booze in the freezer, and a box full of engine parts awaiting further reassembly.

happy wrenching,
Rob

I cleaned the case mating surfaces for attempt #3 at sealing the case of my 400F. The first time I forgot the cam chain tensioner. The second time, I forgot some more tensioner, and broke a M6 bolt due to a mis-read torque spec. I'll hopefully get it together today. Then I can start reassembling the shifter linkage.

Reinstalled the swing arm on the 750 today.  To ease install I loosened the rear engine mounts a bit and used a piece of threaded rod in the rear foot pegs mounts to expand the frame just a wee bit.
Threaded rod, it has a million and one uses!
Then I bead blasted the rear foot peg mounts and gave them a coat of primer.

Well I woke up yesterday and decided to buy a new exhaust system for my new favorite toy, my Rocket III. With the stock system it only puts out a tad over 120 BHP at the rear wheel, so I ordered a Jardine "Big Boss" 3-1-2 system, and with the new Power Commander III USB and K&N under seat filter I can expect around 160 RWBHP, so even though my wallet is hemorrhaging after $2K spent, I'm looking forward to some (slightly illegal) high speed fun!

The weather was kind to me so I rode the Triumph over to my favorite bike wreckers and bought a new lever for the F2's MC and a couple of brass clutch cable adjusters, shot the shiite with the guys there over a cup of coffee, then rode home again.

I've got a mate who hates cruisers, particularly Harleys (but likes my Rocket III due to it's awesome power) so I was surprised when I rang him that he told me he'd just bought a spanking new Gold Wing! Old age is catching up with him I guess, but to be fair, he's also got a couple of Bimota's, and several Honda CB1100R's.

I installed the new brake lever then finished installing the valves in Al's head, and torqued it down. Today I'll loosen everything off again and re-torque it, and finish assembling the engine so Al can put it under his Christmas tree, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Put the front calipers back together and bled as best I could. Spongey but stoping it in the shop. Left it with bars turned and lever tied off. Hopefully that will work.Have to shake down a 4 year old in the am for my 8mm wrench ;D. Put the new in tank filter in petcock. Chain will have to wait a few weeks. Now if the rain will let up. Ill take a maiden voyage.
