Identify this carb part
« on: November 09, 2009, 10:09:42 PM »
While rebuilding my carbs with an ebay rebuild kit, I found this in the pack.  The silver cylinder thats sitting inside the throttle slide gasket.  What does it do?  I couldnt find a place for it when I rebuilt. The carbs are for a 72 CB500.

It is either a

(1) Bungme bit
or a
(2) Wheeeeeee bit

depending on your mood at the time ((2) fly father!)

Or to put it another way never found a use for it in a 500, i believe its for one of the other bikes listed on the kit.

WAG (wild assed guess), But,, Some carbs have an insert which lives above the emulsion tube/main jet holder. often referd to as a "needle nozzel" which provides 2 functions,  1st, acts as a "needle guide", & 2ndly as a quasi needle/jet /orifice. look to the bottom of your'  carb's intake throat where needle enters lower venturi , if it's brass, I'm totally off-base. luck g

Its not the pivot pad for throttle is it? (have to remove top nut under cap, there is a ball joint under it)
