I have been away from bikes for a bit and have been following the threads on cleaning carbs. I am surprised that this is still a problem. I have a bunch of old cars and notice that "Seafoam" and the like make an amazing differrence. Is there nothing for bike carbs?

   Hey Faustie...There are lots of folks here who use Seafoam in their bikes. If your problems are minor it may fix them. However, many of the bikes that people are dealing with here have been sitting a long time without having had the gas drained from the carbs. For the most part these bikes need their carbs removed and completely cleaned. Trying to use Seafoam in these bikes will only remove $'s from your wallet.

I understand the problem, the car in my avatar had sat for 15 years. I also understand that hard "O" rings and crushed gaskets need disassembly. I just thought the "miracles of science" and "better living through chemistry" would have solved the problems of sediment, varnish and coagulation by now.

Maybe I should drink Seafoam.
Come to think of it, every time I go wadefishing at the beach, I do drink sea foam and it hasn't helped yet.

I had a 70' Cornet. I recognized it instantly. Mine was a junker. It would plow through anything. I took bets on what size snowbanks I could plow through.
