Heres a little tid bit of info for you guys

Preachers Promotions built a bike for the show Cafe Racer and was there at Valdosta
for a shoot. The builders of the bike said that they had never cranked it so when they did
it had a bad exhaust leak. They got it all sorted and it sounded prety good. Ricky Gadson was going to ride
it on Monday to see what it would do in the qaurter mile. but before he rode it someone else showed up to help
This is the E-mail that I got from preachers when I asked how it all went..........This is so cool and shows you that anyone
will help you out with a problem

"We had Rickey Ride and Spiderman help tune the bike on Monday….Larry just walked up and said…”Hmmm…looks like you guys are running a little lean” and he then when and DROVE his Semi over to us and started to work!     He just ran 5.43 at 245 MPH on Saturday and he and Rickey, Rev. Jim and diving into the carbs!  Plastic Needles on the bike for 1978 and Larry knew about them!!! Larry then bored them out with trick boring thing he  had…and we ran 12.36 and 108 mph! on the 1978 motor…film and pictures coming!...     just walked in the door and now I am going to bed!

Jim thanks a lots for what you guys did us out!   I am sure we all will be talking or emailing soon!

Now thats a pit crew! I talked with Ricky about the bike on Sunday.Rev. Jim and crew Terry and Zane all great people.Jim first one to spot Arlen Ness rear fender on Calendar Girl.Hey Calendar's Girl's motor had less than 30 minutes run time,no fine tuning, ran 12.463 @ 108.72 mph........guess that wasn't Ricky riding it!!! ;D ;D Still we need that 3rd digit ,cause Samauto has also run 12.36 with that clown we had on Calendar Girl  this weekend! ;)Their bike is stunning.Wanted to run Sam heads up but got their too late Sunday.
We're shooting for March.Anyone got an old/new extended swingarm for Calendar Girl ? Sam ran a .99 on a 98 dial in,we got a .49 on a .44 dial.Next time we'll be better. 8)Bill
Can't wait for next year! Party in Valdosta! ;D

How long would you like that arm to be?? Do you have a stock arm you can put in my hands?? One thing to consider is getting an arm that is wide enough to accommodate a decent 17" rim and tire. That 18" tire will soon begin to rob you as you launch the bike harder and harder especially with added inches in the arm.

We extended the arm on my F model a total of 11 inches over stock. I initially used the stickest compound street tire available but never could get the damn thing to hook. i finally gave up on a street tire and put the 5.5" Mickey Thompson slick on the bike. That thing hooks without doing a burn out and my best 60' is a 1.40. I can't reproduce those numbers now because i don't ride the bike as much and i need to re-sort the clutch. Last time out i think i got a 1.49. The problem i have now is i can only race my bike in Pro ET and at combined races since i have the slick on. I did  widen my arm enough to accommodate a wider 17" rim so one day i might add a good soft compound 17" set up.

I wouldn't waste time with looking for a soft compound 18" street tire- there are none. With a 17" rim, you have a multitude of very sticky tires to  choose from  at reasonable prices like the Shinko U soft and Hookup. If you had at least 4-6 inches, you  could lower your 60' to 1.70's easily.  I will look around to see if i have a stock arm i can fix up for you. I need to know how long though. It might not be pretty but a little paint will go a long way. Now if you want to go with a mono shock setup, i can give you the road map to that as well.  Did an F model not long ago.

Here's a little tip on swingarms guys. The early GSXR1100's had a nice solid alloy swingarm that is 6 to 8  inches longer than the stock 750 arm and a lot bigger, the good part is it is a direct bolt in and allows for bigger wheels as well....
I have the same arm with the monoshock section removed and shortened on one of my builds...Just weld on some shock mounts and off you go....

Not the best picture but it is in a 750F1 frame, this has already been shortened....

If you machine a small amount from the rear sprocket carrier and use a 10mm offset front sprocket, the 17 inch GSXR750J 4.5 inch rear wheel can be used, actually because you wouldn't have to cut the arm down, you could use a 5.5 inch rear rim....

Can you tell me exactly what year swingarm is on the bike in the picture??

I  think i have on in the shed from an 87 GSXR1100. If its the same arm, Bill is in business.

Thanks for the input.

I think all the early GSXR 1100 arms are basically the same, i think mine was of an 88 model, pretty sure the 87 is identical, both models are the older slab sided GSXR's

Just went in the shed and pulled that baby out. It has the swingarm bearings, axle and adjusters still on it too. Bill just needs to get a 17" rim band and  spokes from Buchanan and an offset front sprocket from Cycle X and he is in business. New spacers and brake arm of course. I would go with a 530 chain as well to cut down on reciprocating weight. The non o-ring DRZ2 is perfect for this application.

Thanks for that great tip Retro Rocket.

Bill is now a happy camper who will no longer try to take the weatherman's job away. With that longer arm and an airshifter combined he should be in the mid 11 second zone easily. Time for one of Mike's heads???????????????

Glad i could be of assistance.... ;)
If using the stock hubs you will have to make up some spacers to center the rear wheel....
Hmmm, i think i have an air shifter as well.... :P

1 more thing, the K7 ,K8 750's have a wider sprocket carrier, 10 mm to be precise..... ;)

Funny frank..........we all missed you guys
And we will see you soon
If your interested I have an F 836 motor you can have
Call me if needed 770-367-7320

I'm VERY interested in the motor. I have a K model  bike i want to set up for street ET and that motor would be perfect. I'll give you a call tomorrow.

The Motor is yours if you want it Frank..........It needs a good home at no charge...........
the head has been up at Mike R place for a while as he was going to check it to see if it can be ported.
This motor is out of a drag bike that I purchased about 3 years ago as it was sold as a 915 or bigger (I cant remember)
I got it home and started to get that sick feeling when I pulled the valve cover off and looked at stock cam, springs, etc etc
It is a 836 but that is all I know about it
its been collecting dust ever sense and I am sure Mike would ship the head back just to get it out of his shop. (Good door stop).
just let me know when I can get it to you or we can meet somewhere in the middle.

I then told her it was a girls bike and even she could ride it. ;D ;D ;D she quickly replied that she rode an eight second Busa. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ She forgave me and we chatted for quite a while. 8)

Sam. ;)

Dang it Sam,

Only you could put your foot in your mouth with a sexist remark and then get a hug  and a kiss afterwards.  I want to be like you when i grow up-lol.

That can be arranged quite easily Frank, shave your head, I have plenty of white paint to get rid of your sun tan, then you'll just need a very small clip on willy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  I'm sure Gladys would prefer you as you are. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
