My Name is Terry and I'm an Ebay-Aholic!
« on: December 26, 2005, 03:31:07 PM »
I just can't help myself, I spend all day scanning Ebay for new and interesting parts for my CB750's and I just bought 5 (five) pairs of NOS Boge Shockers! I do have 5 CB750's, but they all have good shocks! I saw them and just had to have them all, I couldn't help myself, Boge shockers are just as good as period Koni's, and they are all new! Can someone help me, please, before I buy again! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, you need a slap, for sure.

I already have  spare 1978 shocks. but thaks for sharing. Have another Forster's, but this time stay out of the sun while doing so.

Terry...I can help you. While I can't do anything to help you stop buying, I can help you by providing you with a service that will allow you to buy without running out of precious storage space. There are two things we can do...

#1. Send me parts you have already bought but don't really have a need for. This will free up valuable storage space in your already overcrowded shop allowing you to continue your shopping indulgences.

#2. Simply have your eBay purchases shipped directly to me. No more new items to clutter your space and once again your shopping needs are met.

I guess there is a third option...We can sign you up for Shoppers Anonymous. They have a 12 step program that I'm sure will help you curb your shopping impulses.

You have my address... :D :D :D

Well guys, Boge were standard fitment on quality European bikes in the 1970's, BMW's in particular, and had an excellent name for improving the handling on Jap bikes. They were expensive, but worth the money. I've had them on a vintage CZ Motocross bike, and of course on a couple of BMW's that I've owned, and in my less than humble opinion, they are as good as the Koni's of the same period, which of course are accepted as the best you could get back then.

I'm sure that they would stand up against any good modern shock, except perhaps mega-dollar shocks like the beautiful Works Performance, Aussie Ikons with adjustable dampening, and of course Ohlins. Boge became Boge/Mulholland in the late 1970's and are now Sachs/Boge of America, but they stopped production of bike shocks (much like Koni did) many years ago. Of course, I don't need 5 pairs, so I'm willing to consider offers on 2 or 3 pairs that I really don't need? They're still in the US, so shipping won't be a killer for you guys, and your (generous, no doubt) offers, will help lighten my shipping burden. PM me with your offers if you're interested.

Tom, I'll be more than happy to do a trade for some more K1 parts, I've decided to continue with the black K2's cleanup, and on closer inspection, my fenders are pretty bad............. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Righteous, we can work out a deal that is parts for parts (less the shipping) I don't expect you to eat shipping those monsters to me nor vise versa, or something like that. I guess we could just work out change to the least expensive shipment (yours or mine). Plus I went out pulled the front and rear fender from the K1-2? today that I sent you pics of. Going out tomorrow to pull the 500 rear fender with the smaller (superior - "Aussie vision") tail light so just let me know what of what you want. Going to be doing a mass shipment outbound on the 26th and staying long at the storage (about 6 hours) to pull massive amounts of parts. Going to be a wopping 40+ degress tommorrow so I can pull harnesses and all the good stuff  ;D.  Might be a harness in the game for you like you had asked before  ;D

And yes I know the shakes and tremors from withdrawal of EC have just stopped so I will provide more EC  ;D. BTW What did you make of the local brand of EC I sent you. Soon you will have your fix  ;). Unless you have joined EC Anonymous? BTW there is not escape from the mighty EC  ;D.

Looking for an excuse better then Vegemite alone (not that it is not worthy) to go travel the 120 miles round trip to Madison, WI to get the mighty Vegemite. I want to grow a spare set before Raul does  ;) Nothing like having a spare everything  ::).

No Worries Tom, the offers are rolling in, but I'll make sure a set is put aside for you! I bought you a tube (no not a little CRP tube, a much bigger one) of vegemite yesterday, and when the Post office is open again tomorrow, I'll send it to you with some salada's and that fork brace if I've still got it? (I haven't seen it in years, but that means nothing, I've got more stuff in my garage than you've got in your storage thingy) Have you still got my wish list? It's 35 deg C outside as I type this, so while you risk frostbite, I'm more worried about sun-stroke, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

It's all good we can and will always work out a deal. At this point I do not care if the family chickens out. I was told tonight by someone who tried it the worst possible part of the whole thing is the texture. Who cares  ::) Send that baby on. I will grow an extra set long before Raul does.  ;D

Terry, I too am an eBay addict. At any given time I am bidding on 10 or more (sometimes many more) items and my list of items I am watching always has 30 or more things in it. I viewed your shocks there and was tempted to bid, but at this time I'm into the resto bug more so moved on. Nice score BTW! I have threatened to add up how much I have spent on the Bay for a while and always chicken out. Even if I just added up what I have spent in shipping for 6 months would scare me.
It is a sad sad addiction for sure.

Terry, how much for the shocks? I would like to get some cheap replacements to swap out the old stock pogo sticks.
If they are already spoken for, how did you find them on ebay? I look and never find anything worthwhile.

Ha ha, only four Joty, Tom (El Cheapo) will get a set for sure as we're doing some "horse trading", but the rest will probably come here. They were an excellent "score" for 50 bucks a pair, (including different weight springs so they can be used for all the sohc4's) so even with a shipping tag of $30.00 per pair I reckon they'll be worth it mate.

I'll put them on my bikes and sell the new S&W "Street Strokers", used Marzocchi Strada's, new YSS and used Koni's that are currently on the bikes, all good shocks for sure, but the Boge shockers are just a cut above, in my less than humble opinion. I'll just have to keep selling my oil cooler kits to feed my addiction, ha ha!

Well, I did it again today, I bought a very good used seat, (thanks for the tip Junkie!) a new set of venolia pistons, a new set of levers, a new Harley 40 spoke front rim to match the 16 inch rear on my K1, and another bottom end gasket set, oops! Oh well, I guess I can always get another credit card, this one's past the point of no return, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hi Terry,

I'm a newbie to the group and thought I would introduce myself. I have an '83 VF750F (looking for good parts if you see any at the wreckers) and am restoring it - slowly. But I'm looking for a nice K2 in reasonalble condition. Having bought the VF cheap, and then spent 3 times that to get it on the road I'm not keen to go down that path again.

If you see anything would you mind letting me know? I live near Nagambie in central Vic, so am an easy hour and a half to Melbourne.

Hope you don't mind me jumping on this post. PS. That oil cooler kit looks great - very simple and well thought out.

Cheers,

Neil

G'Day Neil, well there you go mate, you're in Nagambie, and i work at Puckapunyal, near Seymour! In fact I bought my horrible black K2 from the wreckers in Seymour, and I think it came from Nagambie? I'm still waiting for a 400/4 that's sitting in a shed in Nagambie going cheap?

Anyway, I've got a very nice K2 (not the black one) that I'll sell you, frame has been powdercoated, has new shocks, reasonable used 4 into 4 pipes (not fitted yet) "as new" seat, tapered roller steering head bearings, new ignition, new bronze swingarm bushes, lights, blinkers,  etc etc, the tank is a bog-free US gold tank that  needs to be repainted as the original paint is faded, same for the sidecovers, but everything is there, and it goes well. Let me know if you're interested, I'm looking for about 2800.00 in it's current nice shape. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry, this is to inform you that the Australian Customs Service have specifically seconded me to deal with all imports by you into Australia. Forthwith any goods of motorcycle, alcoholic or pornographic nature are to be warehoused at in my shed for indeterminate periods for investigation. Goods deemed suitable for your use (and of no value to me) will be forwarded on to you at your expense of course. Goods (which may be of value to me) which are deemed unsuitable for your private use will be held in my shed which like all Aussie Customs Houses lose impounded goods at an amazing rate.

Geez Ian, that's the fourth notice like that I've received this week? How did those customs bastards find out about me, did you dob me in? Ha ha, cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

20 degrees here in the wheatbelt east of Perth. Sorry late with reply but have been all over town (Pop. 1000) trying to find a compression tester seeing mine has gone on extended holiday with someone I lent it to years ago and I've forgotten who - lol.

By the way that Dyna I got off you is working well. But like the Danoz advert "but theres more". I'm still waiting for the free oil cooler!!! LOL

Terry:  Stumbled on to your cooler on ebay. Did you used to sell used cars in Melbourne?  ("John Lennon's breath may be sealed in this box"). I think my uncle bought a used Transit from you when you worked at "Fast Freddies" used car lot.

Well I don't understand your point Grummy because as you've gathered I'm a bit "thick", but I did hang around one of the sleaziest car yards in Melbourne for awhile, (I still remember running out to lock the gates at 10 am one Saturday morning and hiding in the garage with the "dealer principle" drinking beer while waiting for the EPA "flying squad" to give up and go away) and the guys there said i could come work for them, as I had a real "talent" for selling cars?  ???

Anyway, that NOS Derale cooler is doing well on Ebay, I would like to have kept this one as it's box has never been opened, but my garage is bursting at the seams with stuff i've been buying on Ebay, so it has to go,  :'( someone out there will get a bargain, I guess? Here's a link, if anyone's interested? Cheers, Terry. ;D

G'Day Michel, well it got to 43 deg C (110 deg F) here in Melbourne yesterday, I took my son to see a movie and when we got home at 5 pm I opened my steel garage, it was like a blast furnace in there, checked the thermometer and it was 51 deg C! (123 deg F)

It stayed around the high 20's (70's) all night, but started raining at noon today, and is still raining at 6pm, which is brilliant, not just because it's cool, but we were worried about bush fires, we had two grass fires here on Friday that moved into the trees, but luckily the fire-guys came and put them out quickly, but the fires got within 100 feet of the nearest house, which was scary. This time last night I would've been happy with some of that snow! Cheers, Terry. ;D
