Hey everyone,

I'm a new member from West Grove, PA (Southern Chester County, near DE and MD borders)

I can usually be found riding somewhere along the Susqehanna river from Conowingo, MD to Williamsport, PA. Mostly on Sundays, sometimes on the road, sometimes off-road.

A gruop ride sounds like fun, and maybe even an eastern region tech-day? We've done two tech events at my shop and it worked out really well, so if anyone is interested it's available.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone out on the road!

Regards,
Chris Herring

???

I am new to riding in the area, although I do live here. Can some of you post some of your routes for easy 1/2 day or full day trips? I know some of the fun is just wandering around, but I would hate to wander around, say, Mechanicsburg, and miss a good stretch of road or a nice view. Jim Thorpe looks like it would have some spectacular routes!

One route that I really liked a lot was Route 125 from 501 north to Shamokin.   Some really nice twisties up over the mountains.  Its gotten a bit popular judging by the number of bikes I came across on my last run.  Around Fraley, there is a long (3+ mile) straight section going under Rte 81.  Last time I was up there, it was a scene from one of those crazy sport biker videos with guys flying past doing wheelies, stoppies, and all kinds of craziness.  I stopped to watch the action for a bit and people I talked to suggested that this is a pretty regular event up there.  A bit wild for my tastes.

PA has lots of great roads to explore.  It'll be great to put together some rides in the spring.

hi,
Just putting up my bike for the winter in nyc and looking forward to getting out next spring. Does anyone know a good, non 4-lane highway, route from nyc/brooklyn to Eastern Pennsylvania. I'm interested in getting into longer trips and camping and going for some group rides.

My old stomping grounds... well, Kennett Square, actually, but close enough.  Still get down that way every month or so for the great Mexican food - something Lancaster County sorely lacks.

There are great roads along both sides of the river.  I vote for a river ride sometime this spring.

A tech day sounds like a great idea.  I expect you'll find a lot of takers when the weather warms.

How can we have so many mexicans here and no good Mexican food?

Glenn have you ever made the run up the river on 147 from Harrisburg to Sunbury.  I drove it by car 20+ years ago and remember it as a nice road for a ride.  I am from Sullivan County, ( I had to leave to find a wife because my uncle had his eye on my sister and my dad told me she was not all that great.)  Now if you want twisty's they were born there!  But so were deer and bear, both hurt over 25 mph.  I have a rustic campsite back home I go to with the kids a couple times a year, but its 3 hours from Carlisle to that part of Sullivan and the last 3 miles are on gravel roads.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

How can Mexico have so many Mexicans and not have great Mexican food?  That's the question I kept asking myself when I was traveling in Chiapas two years ago.  The food was very average at best.  Oaxaca had some good restaurants, but I expected better - there might have been better, but not in my price range.

Kennett Square has Taqueria Moroleon which has been around for more than 15 years and consistently has great food.  I love Mexican food and have sought out places where ever I've gone - only in Tucson, Arizona did I find a place that might be better than Taqueria Moroleon.

I haven't driven 147 in a long while.  I'll have to try it this year.  Sullivan county brings back memories.  My first wife's family had a hunting cabin up there and we would go up two to three times a year.  It is a beautiful county - though my last visit shows that it has become a bit more populated.  When I first started going up there, the county had a bit of fame in being the only county in PA without a traffic light  - last time I was there, they had one - in Dushore.

yes the cabins have been on the increase but the population has not changed in 100 years.  Dushore still has the red light.  I am from Shunk. The township population 65.  This summer we will have to give 147 a ride.  15 is all 4 lane from Perdix up.

Hey, Pennsylvania thread, allright  ;D
I live in Camp Hill area. Did a quick jaunt up to centralia this past summer on my seca, nice roads in that area. I am planning a comeback visit this spring / summer. Here's some pics from the trip :

As far as camping goes, I love it. Last year I rode down to a place called Boyer, WV. Nice roads, nice people, 2 days are not enough  ;D .  Some pics :

D.

Centralia is a cool place in a kind of tragic way.  I've been going up there for years and watched as the town disappeared house by house.  The coal region is a great place for a dual-sport bike - there are all kinds of interesting places back the old mine roads.

going back to an earlier post....
a tech day sounds like the thing i need.  although i'm pretty good at picking things up out of a manual, it'd be nice to see some old hands at work.  i know i'd get something out of it.  i have a rack i can fit on the back of the bike for a case of beer, so you all can get something out of it as well  ;D
plus, any day i can work on my bike with a roof over my head is a good day.

Just wanted to revive this thread and see where everyone is at in terms of organizing a ride / tech day.
I live in Philly and have a CB 350F.  I have been tooling around with a couple of guys who are really into the 350 twins, and we are looking for more old bike nuts to ride with.
Come for brunch with us Sundays at 11AM (more like noon) at the south philly tap roomhttp://www.southphiladelphiataproom.com/
Would love to organize a longer ride, also have a tech day to trade ideas, secrets, expertise, maybe have a carb synch tool on hand etc etc etc.
Hope someone reads this and repsponds before winter comes.  I know it is an old thread.
PS Kennett Square is beautiful.  I love longwood gardens!

One month later and none of us SE PA riders have responded?
I guess we are all to busy riding our scoots!  I know I take her out almost daily.  Looking for longer non interstate rides departing from philadelphia
and also anyone who would like to go on them with me.  Seems there are a few riders in the area, I have seen some nice vintage hondas on the road this past week.  ocuple 750s a 550 and a 400Fsupersport.  all real nice.
lets get together and take a ride!

East Earl, PA here, trying to wake up this post again. It's good to see riders around here, hopefully I'll have my CB550 cafe project ready to roll come spring, I just need to find someone to tune my carbs. Any ideas around here would be great.

You can tune them yourself and save money.  Buy a Motion Pro SyncPRO tuner from Z1 Enterprises for under $90.  Steve is a good guy and he ships real quick.  I had mine in two days.

I a new guy located up north in Scranton. I would love a get together sometime when it gets warmer (and the 350F actually runs). I'm in the process of waking it up from a 25 year slumber and it's a bit cranky. Should be done just in time for the spring though *fingers and toes crossed!*

I'm hoping to get it started tomorrow if it the snow doesn't keep me away from the garage. Progress has been great this week.
If all goes well it should be the weather that's keeping me from riding, not the bike.
