stupid drunk!
« on: January 01, 2010, 10:20:22 AM »
two nights ago, met my pal for a ride and then a beer.  parked my bike well out of the way, near an outdoor seating area.

i'm inside, when one of the bartenders comes up, motions me out to the parking lot.

i figured maybe someone had a question about the bike...

my bike is laying on it's side!

some drunk backed up approximately 25 feet from his parking space, straight into the honda, and proceeded to drive off!

thankfully, the only damage is a bent front brake lever and my clubmans are slightly bent.  my right hand is positioned a little more forward than my left when riding.  the front end alignment seems fine, no major damage or even dings!

i got a description of the guy and his car, and i assume he hangs out at this bar from time to time (which is my local hangout, down the street from me).  i can't wait to run into him (no pun intended!)

happy frickin' new year!  ride safe...

john

I got some clubmans for ya if you want em. they're just cheap chrome ebay bars, but they'll get you straight.
everything I say is pure speculation and
I have no idea what I'm talking about  ._.

thanks for the offer...right now, i'm beyond broke.  work has been s-l-o-w (i.e.: no work almost all of december).

i have a spare lever that doesn't match, but it's new in bag oem honda.  i have a set of euro bars, but the bend is barely noticeable on the clubmans, so i think i'll hold out and get a new set of bars and another lever to match at the same time when i can swing it.

i've been kicking around the idea of a different seat, bars and bar controls as my winter project.  kind of a brat-style influence.  a little more flat track than cafe.
i guess this is good motivation to do it sooner than later.

That's a real shame that that happened. Sure am glad that it didn't happen with YOU on it and that it wasn't any worse than that.

well, i stayed in last night, and tonight i have plans with my gal to go see a blues band at a different venue...

i'm a lot more 'restrained' than i was as a kid/young man back in detroit...but yeah, i'd at the very least like to give the guy a piece of my mind.  i dunno if there's anything i can do regarding the police, seeing as i didn't file a report that evening.  i didn't even notice the handlebars until i was riding home, and since it started/lit up/didn't leak when i gave it the once-over, i didn't think it was worth calling the cops.

Well, even if you just give him a piece of your mind... #$%* needs to know you don't run over someone's bike and drive away. You should get all your buddies that ride together and meet there once a week! Put the fear of God into him!!!
