Project K8 Martini Racing Edition
« on: October 02, 2009, 03:31:37 PM »
Hi, I'm from Mexico and just bought a CB750K8, I'm going to cafetize. Right now I'm in the pics. style search an collect also looking for the best options for mods. I really wish to finsh (ish) this project next month. (keep dreaming  ;D )

Here's the plan:
Stage 1

-Dual front brakes (don't know if I will use the set-up for the bike or change all the front end to a GL1000 air suspension  ::) or maybe try to adapt new disks and calipers  ???  ??? )
   - custom tank I really like the Triton style but maybe I made a tank with a battery house on it  ???
   - custom seat and tail section
   -Aluminum Carbs. stacks
-Clip-ons (hide right controls (location  ??? ) ideas?
   -R6 rear sets
   -Relocate battery
   -Relocate start switch
   -CB900 adj. rear shocks
   -Rewire all bike
-60mm electric tacho on custom headlight
   -Dyna electric set-up
-Powder coat frame, rear sets, clip-ons, fork arms....
   -oil gauge on engine case
-Speedo mmmm.... I don't know where to put it. Can I locate the speedo in the fork with dual disks ???
-Paint the engine and polish some parts (maybe sand cast) I don't know yet don't want to look like HD

Well this is the plan so please let me knkow what all you think about and please give me some ideas, feddbacks tricks or what ever.

Cheers!

Sounds like you have hell of a lot planned for it. Excited to see it. What electric tach are you using?

I'm thinking in one of these with custom  face dial (cafe flags or the TON thing) and water resistant closing

You can, yes. Just takes a little modification if you use the stock front end.

Thanks! Any more info or leads?

Spent the morning @ my local motorcycle junk yard and find some nice stuff
cb900r rear shock
Interceptor clip-ons
F2 rearsets
a nice vintage headlight house with in hose speedo and 2 idiot lights (to be the tacho) and oil & neutral

today's updates
frame-
was chopped, cleaned, sandblasted and powdercoated.
engine-
was rebuilded (tie rods, 836 pistons, new rings, clips, ported and polished head, new valves seats and HD springs)
Body-
I find a nice seat/tail set-up of a Triumph Thunderbird I will use the tail and custom made the seat, the gas tank is in procces it would be a 2in1 (oil-gas tank) the headlight with tacho housing came form a Aprilia/Ducati Scrambler Bronco
