CB750F head gasket
« on: January 09, 2010, 01:23:11 PM »
I purchased a gasket kit to rebuild my 78 cb750f from cycle x, which is an emgo kit.  When I tore down the engine, I noticed the head gasket "holes" are ovaled, but the cycle x gasket holes are round.  Do I need an ovaled head gasket?  Is it ovaled to accomadate the valves?

I see that the picture shows the same F2 as I had. The head gasket looked like this from the Honda top end gasket set...

Have you rebuilt one with the round gaskets?  Do I need to source out a head gasket with the ovaled holes?

For the F2 head you will need the type of gasket shown, otherwise the valves will be masked.
From what I remember, the F2 gasket could be used on other 750 engines, but not vice versa.

From what I have seen on the websites, Honda does make a replacement with part # 12251410306 that supercedes part# 12251410000.  Has anyone ordered one of these?  Does it have the ovaled cylinder holes?  Judging from the drawings they are round, but they are just fiche drawings.  Honda sells them for $69 which is about what I paid for the whole gasket kit, I think.  I want to make sure this is correct before I spend that much.  Any more input would be appreciated.

BTW thanks Yoshi

The part number that has been superceded is the one that I have for the head gasket. I'm not sure about the new number. If all else fails try contacting Dave Silver Spares over here and asking them for their advice...they're always willing to help...this is the link from over here...

If i'd known that someone over there was going to need a genuine head gasket for a 750F2 i'd have given my Aunt, who was over here for Xmas from Los Angeles, the gasket that I have for sale to take home with her.

Hope that you find what you need.
