1:6 Model Honda Motorcycle
« on: January 28, 2010, 06:14:08 AM »
A model collector friend of mine called me up to tell me he ran across a 1:6 model of a complete Honda motorcycle with a full racing fairing. He couldn't recall if it was a CB750 but he said it was complete in the box and from the 70's. The guy that has it wants $50 for it. i didnt want to commit to buy it until i see it. i cant really find much on the internet about it without more info. anybody run across any of these honda motorcycle scale models? i did run across this sweet one http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/asp/list_reviews/xq/ASP/id.MP062-161002/qx/reviewpix.htm

It's this one. This one and the street version were kits sold by a company called Tamiya in the early 70s. Well the kits are still being sold. Last year or so there were built version of the bikes being offered. I don't know if it was through Tamiya, or some other company was putting them together and selling them.

The kit forms....

I had them both in the 1970s when they came out. Several moves back then took their toll. I replaced the stock version and the last move to our current house took that one out. They were going for $60 some odd a while back from Hong Kong and Taiwan, but within the last few weeks they have shot up greatly. Hopefully if the economy comes back the price will come down. I'd really like to get them both again - but not for a few hundred landed here

$105 to $319

as much as i love model building and having both a cr750 and a stock cb750k model its would be cool as hell, but i am not spending that much for 2 model kits. the money for those would buy me enough decent paint and a cam for the k4 750.

You can't get them in the USA or order them through a hobby shop that sells Tamiya?

I'd love to build a 750 but the Tamiya kits are stupid expensive.  (But worth it, very high quality model.)

I recently missed out on an Entex 750 engine model on eBay.  I think it went for about $70....

Check out the price on this one!

I have found the quality of the Entex kits to be poor. Their SOHC 750 is a pretty crude rendition. I've had three of them over the years. Still got one I think. Tamiya's quality is excellent. With the proper background and a good photographer, you can easily fool people into thinking they are the real deal. Yes they are extremely expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for. Paying a lot for sure, but they are terrific kits. I have a lot of Tamiya's 1/12 scale bikes and even at that scale they are superb.

Yodel has a real great 1/8 CBX - but it always goes for north of $150 or so.

Bucky, I searched tower hobbies and didn't fine it. If I could get for under 100 shipped I might TRY and save up for it, otherwise just sit and wait palenlty. It's 355 mm long, I did the conversion and that's about 14 inches long! A lot bigger then I thought.

I have one of the CB750 motor models. The quauity is so so. I got it from Aerostech for around 40 I think. Never did get it to actally run.. But that would also be the turth if I built one in real life.  :D

I haven't found the regular CB750 1/6th for less than 120.00, but you can get the CB750 Police bike for less than $100.

How do you put these kits together? Is it like with glue or something? That would be pretty cool for a dining room table centerpiece!

I recently saw an 'Airfix' road one available here in the UK for £38, if anyone is interested I can tell you who had it for sale.
