Just got back from a 2hour ride, and......
« on: January 08, 2006, 01:58:18 PM »
...Boy am I cold  :o :o :o

It was a balmy 42 today in the WindyCity , streets were clear from Salt,so me and my buddy Steve decided to go for a little
spin on our scoots. It was good to be back on the CB, as it reminded me of why I am so into this
message board, and the bike as a whole..It also got my friend motivated to get his 71 CB550
up and running.

The ride also reminded me of a few things :
1. Need to rebuild both front and rear brakes badly
2. That Fugly seat needs to go , but is quite comfy
3. Chicago drivers are deadly
4. Need to re-wire my turn-signals If I plan on living

Can't wait till spring, or atleast another "warm" day...

Geez mate, don't I know about that! I did the same yesterday, but it was only 28 deg! Oh wait, you mean 42 deg F? Holy #$%*, that's too cold to even breathe in! And there I was cruising along on the ol' K1 with just my shorts and T shirt on, bugs bouncing offa my manly cheeks and roman-esque nose, worrying about it being 36 deg C today and whether I had enough icy cold beer in my beer-fridge!

Plus I was a little worried about the cops pulling me over as I haven't quite gotten around to registering the ol' Kruiser, and the baffles in my drag pipes fell out years ago so it's a little loud, but apart from that, it was a great ride, for sure! Have a good one mate, keep the snowy side up, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Sure, those of you who are in a climate that allows year-round riding are constantly faced with the decision of should I ride or should I work on the bike. Must be hard being torn between those two thoughts. Those of us living in more northern latitudes are given the opportunity to do proper maintenance and upkeep.   ;)

If you believe that, I have a bridge for sale.  ;D

How much for that bridge Bob, if it's any good, I might buy it and get you to send it to TT for me? ;D

Let me tell You fellers about my ride yesterday, for the last oh I don't know 20 days it has been raining here temps in the low to mid 40's.  During the day light or commuter hours seems like the rain is the heaviest.
Yesterday I spotted a thin ribbon of blue sky out in the distance so I set out knowing at some point I was going to get hosed but was willing to take that chance.
I head for Sauvies Island, an island covered in farms between the Willamette river and the Mighty Columbia river, beautiful scenery and lots of twisty roads.  The weather continued to get nice as I was heading out so I continued to ride farther out until I was on the far side of the island and .5 to .75 miles past the end of the paved road and down a gravel road.  This is when the rain started and the temp dropped a noticeable amount, I turn around and start back thats about the time the hail started and lasted a good 10 minutes. continued home which took an hour and a half from where I was, oh yeah my rain pants leak in the crotch and my gloves are not made for wet weather. Sucky to say the least
On a good note I scored a new cafe fairing for $40.00 from a guy here, same one is selling for 60.00 locally
I farted and made my son cry.

We have had dustings of snow everyday for a week noew. Dusting means, it spits into your face, and it is always just a little too cold to melt. Ride if you can, I need to stay off the snow skis myself.

It is rare that we get a day this time of year above 40, AND the streets are dry and clear
of salt, so I had to ride alittle. No major surgery on the CB till spring so all I had to do was take
the cover off the bike, and let it warm up for awhile and I was a-ridin..I wish I could ride more, but any riding
with the temp below 40 just isn't fun in my opinion....

Said to be in the lower 50's later this week , looks like I will be out again... ;D

Why you have to be so damn negative  ::)
I actually really like the new Charger concept, as well as the current Magnum and 300C cars.
The new Camaro is killer in my opinion , But I would still take my girlfriends 2005 GTO over the maro..

Seven days of rain is miserable/doable, try seven days of 20's and snow!

It DID get up to 55 degrees today and I did have to go to Lowes for an electrical box!  Sounds like a job for the 750!

Been rather warm here in the Lone Star State.  I went riding to day in a balmy temp of 74f.  Makes me hate what will happen when summer rolls round.  So much for overhauling the bike when it gets too cold to ride winter.

I was out there with you today. I'm over west of Austin about 50 miles. Spent an hour or two cruising the backroads around the 71 and 281. Looks to be another day like that tomorrow.

Winter in Texas is the pits, isn't it?

(Actually, it's freaking me out a little. I don't ever recall it being so warm in the winter.  ??? )
