well my bike and most cb750's when running consume about 9-10amps full tilt when cruzing..
you will need a little more because when you idle at a light you will need that stock battery size to idle cuz the charging system does not function.....

now if you want to run a small gel battery for the bike you will prol want to trim the elctrical down...

1. get rid of the elect start
2. run some sort of LED lighting...
3. trim off extra elect that you dont need... (run basicly a chopper wiring)
4. run a modern solid state rec/regulator

that should jsut about get you running that small gel battery!

I'd contact the guys at Bikebatts.com. They list several different AGM sealed batteries for your bike and can probably steer you in the right direction.

Remember, the amp rating of the battery is how long it will supply that level of power. So a 7 ah will provide 7 amps for 1 hour.
I ran a 7 ah battery in my 77 all summer long with no change to the electrics. You do not have to change electrics. No matter what battery you use, if your bike does not supply enough power to operate, it will always go dead. Sure if you do nothing but idle, it will slowly go dead but all a bigger battery will do is prolong that. If you are sitting in traffic that long, then you either need a motorcycle that constantly charges, find a different route home, or take a car.

We keep Speed Cell batteries in stock. You can use the 4.6AH, 240 amp battery. It is 4.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 3 inches tall. It weighs less than 2 pounds. It can be mounted in any position. Call me at 631-231-9552 or e mail ken@orientexpress.com

ken,

whats the life expectancy of one of these?  i'm looking for a small, lightweight and reliable battery for my build.  i like rob's batteries, but yours sounds good too, and you're in the states.  what about if i want to go kick only?  do you offer anything smaller?
