Topic: euro or superbike bars

I really want to go with some superbike style bars for my 72 CB500. I'm trying to keep the stock bike look and riding comfort, so didn't the euro bars come stock on some SOHC4s overseas? i noticed that there is a difference in the rise and length of euro vs. supers. they've got some at JCW's http://www.jcwhitney.com/HANDLEBARS?ID=12;0;1101014751;0;100003;ProductName;14;0;0;0;2017095;0;0# does anyone one have an opinion of one over the other? oh, and any pictures of bikes with either of these installed would be appreciated.

I have the Superbike bars on all my solo bikes now.  A little less rise and pull-back than the Euros.  I like a hint of assertiveness in the wind.

man I'll tell you, the more i look at these bars on other bikes the more i start to despise the look of my stock ones.

what?! i thought it was a modified triumph. was Kawasaki trying to totally rip off the bonneville look? can these be had for a reasonable price? i want one!

It's a fairly unique engine.  Very popular in Europe, but Kawasaki did absolutely NOTHING to sell them in the 'States- despite the fact that most magazines liked them much more than the new Bonneville.  After test riding a Bonnevile- I was forved to agree.  One thing I think hurt the W is the stock tank looks like a slice of cheap wedding cake.  At any rate, most folks seem to think it was a reprise of a model that was very British looking in the late 60's (can't remember the model)  Who knows.  I just like the way it rides and sounds.  Very nice size for my stubby legs.

Not many were sold here, so they are few and far between.  Seems like a good, low miles example might go for around $4 to $4500?  There's a Yahoo Group you might check in with and tell them you're looking for one.  That's how I found mine.

Here in the UK, virtually all bikes were fitted with the sort of bars which you see on the CB450 below. In my mind, the perfect height and reach for all-round enjoyment.

I keep toying with the idea of fitting some Ace Cafe Bars but I know that while they look fab, they're a step too far. The stock bars are pretty much perfect.

Well my next question was going to be what do these bars look like with standard mirrors, this pic took care of that question. Looks good!
