Oh yea, as for the bucket o bolts. One thing I found is that most the bolts will only fit in one location so its hard to get them mixed up. I am sure you know this but the parts fiche lists all the bolt lengths and also helps when it comes time to put it together. I bought one of those bolt sizing cards at ACE and I use it ALL the time to determine lengths.

I just put "bearings" into Google and hit maps. Found a place near me that sells them and went down there. For the grooved bearings I ordered from Yamiya. If you do this make sure they don't use UPS or you will have a TON of customs paperwork to fill out.
sweet.  imagining shipping costs more than the bearings themselves  ::)  thanks.

yeah, i have the fiche and a sizing card handy and was just going to use it to start fresh.  a bunch of the heads were eff'd up during removal, and a set of new ones wont break the bank. looks cleaner, too.

Let the fun begin again!

Is that a 410 head or a 392 head? It wasn't/isn't black? What size are the intake and exhaust valves? Are there numbers cast onto the top fin intake side by #3?
410
In. 34.5mm
Ex. 32.0mm
(Not exact measurements as I have not removed the valves)

Finally got the last of the studs out, and finished cleaning the upper case and mating surface.

I think that's enough verification of a F2/F3.

Check the guides then start assembly. Are you going with HD studs? It's a good idea.

No dimples  :)

Yes, I plan on ordering HD studs, bronze guides, and new seals.  I dont know if the current guides are new or reused.
I noticed there are green/black/red seals.  One better than the other?
leaning towards the red KPMI viton ones from dynoman.

and what's this number?  ...painted on the lower left case next to the filter.

MRieck posted a thread recently on valve seals comparing them. He found the OEM seals are the best in his opinion. Apparently the aftermarket seals are taller and don't seal as well.

Couple of things going on today.
Top case painted and head torn down....but I have one valve not wanting to come all the way through the guide.  It sticks right there.  New guides going in, but I don't want to ruin the valve.
What to do?  :-\

The valve end is probably little mashroomed. Measure it with caliper - shoudl be 6.5 mm - and grind it away.

I bet it is exhaust valve, right? I had to grind 3 of my exhaust valves.

Intake #4, and it mics at 6.53mm.
Valve end shows no wear...

Took my wheel to it and after a bit of work, it pulled through.
here comes a cycle x head rebuild kit  ::)
