Broke piston Oil Ring during installation :( ...what to do?
« on: March 18, 2010, 07:40:24 PM »
Help I broke the oil ring when i was installing it on the piston.
I did not know that is was so fragile. I'm kinda stuck now and
do not know what to do. The ring is a .75 oil ring and I have no idea
where I can get either another ring or another set, as this set came
with the pistons. There is a "set" for sale on Ebay, but they are from
Singapore and I really don't trust ordering stuff from that far away.
If anyone may for some strange reason have a spare .75 oil ring laying
around I would gladly buy it off you.
Thanks, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Seriously bummed  :-[

Yezin, any advise?

.75 over is tough to find, unless it matches a 400 ring. You can grind a bit of  end gap I would think.

Maybe someone knows more about the 350/400 bore sizes will tell you.

I would also suggest this guy- e-mail him and see what he knows.

The xr 80 has pretty smilar sized bores and I used an identical wrist pin from one in my 350, and lots of stuff is the same for different models.

Maybe Hondaman will show up..

Dave,

That's who I bought them from originally.  I might even have a spare oil ring, but it looks like you are set.

The shipping is really rather speedy....I'd guess you'll have it in a week.
