RX man-do you have contact info for the welder?  Does anyone else have experience with repairing the fins?

Thanks,

ED

...I have a head with damaged fins I'm planning on having welded.  It shouldn't be that big of a deal for a competent aluminum welder.  Like was mentioned, just have the welder build it up, then use a grinder/file/sanding to bring them back to size...

Does anyone have experience with JB Weld and shaped aluminium plate?   -Dave with a black painted F engine.

...when removing the head form my 77F I banged against the bottom of the head with a mattet, and broke a fin  ::).  I used JBweld on it, and after the rebuilt repainted the engine black, and u'd never know it was broke.  However I was real carful when getting the engine back in not to grab that area of the head.  Fabbing up some aluminum and patching it with JB weld would work, but u'r gonna have to have a really good eye so it matches up correctly...

How does the JB weld handle the temperature?  Was it a special high temp version?

Thanks,

ED

...not sure what the temp limit on jbweld is, but its way above the temps on the head.  I used it to patch a hole in my valve cover last month and it held for 150 miles of hard riding.

Ed,

The shop I'll be using is Wagner's in Colorado Springs. Does all phases of welding and fabbing. 719-471-7767. I looked at his work and was satisfied especially the stainless steel exhaust he fabricated. Looks like he'll get even more of my business. He quoted me $100 based on 1.5 hours to build up the broken fins then reshape them rather than attempting to weld the pieces back on. I'm hoping to drop the jugs off tomorrow before I leave for vacation. I'll try to take before and after pictures.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

What is included in the three different porting "stages"? I searched on google and I found very little info. It seems to be common knowledge to everyone except for me  :-\
