Over the past 30 years every time I saw an old-school bike on the road (rubber gaiters, big headlight, upright riding position) I would check if it was a CB750.
NEVER.
I think I must have one of the very few of these bikes in a country of over 4 million people (New Zealand).
Maybe 20 750's all up at a guess. And boys, I turn heads everywhere I go, which is nice, but it's not why I brought this model.
There's a guy just down the road from me with a mint 400F. Spoke to him once last year then never saw him or the bike again so then again maybe there are heaps of guys with nice Hondas parked up just lurking away and never out on the roads. Who knows?
I believe that in the early days when the pipes rusted out (leaded fuel) and the cost of new pipes was, and still is, pretty prohibitive, the bikes would be sold off and turned into 'Bucket racers'. I don't know if that is a common term but it means amateur track race-bike here.
Cheers, TC
