CB550 Valve cover removal in frame
« on: April 26, 2010, 12:43:01 PM »
Can it be done?

I'd like to replace my badly leaking valve cover o-ring, but if the whole motor has to come out, I may re-think this one...

Thanks,

It can be done, easily.
No need to remove the engine.
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

Yes, it is possible do it without the rubber bands - I also just backed off the adjustment screws all the way and was then very careful to make sure the rockers were in the correct position as I lowered the cover into place. If you feel any resistance at all, take a closer look!

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
