Topic: I picked up a CB750 with no engine for $500....WHY?

I picked up a 1976 CB750 with no engine for $500 today It has a title, both side covers no cracks, tank a little rusty inside but great paint and better then most. Has the carbs, so why pay $500 for a bike with no engine?....... THE NICE SET OF LESTER WHEELS.

Yes there is a tank. Its a little rusty on the inside but the outside is nice!! The picture I took of it was blurry. I must of been shaking with excitement!

My bike was the same color as yours.
The tank had a nasty dent in it from the fork tube and the inside was a little rusty, but not bad.
One of the side covers had a crack in it.
I put them on ebay with a starting bid of $20 plus shipping.
They sold for $360, you will definetley get your money back!

Thanks for the tip scrap! I wonder what I could get for the lesters? I was thinking of using them on my upcoming cafe project but spoked wheels might give it a more "classic look".

I have a kz1000 and those Lesters go for $100 to $200+ each on ebay.  I will say that the price was higher prior to the economy situation.  But people step up for them to be sure.

Hey good condition on the parts bike! If you want to sell the front brake setup for cheap let me know I desperately need master cylinder all the way through to the caliper! I feel like a volcher circling prey right now

Hey Mick, The guy told me he took the engine out and gave it to a "friend" who worked for harley. He was going to rebuild it , but the engine went MIA. I hate when that happens.

Saw that listed ZZ was wondering what those wheels were.Looked pretty complete minus the engine.Now if you could scrounge up an 836 to slide in there---- Ummmm- Now break out those "Zircon encrusted tweezers" and get to work on it

Great googly moogly Ekpent. I got one one I bought from digger for another project, but I'm thinking about it. I think I'll call it the Pygmy Pony

Agreed...you never know what you may find. I paid $100 for a complete CB750K4 last year with all the OEM parts including owners manual still in the bag with spare key. And it had a title. I sold the frame and title for $150. The rest of the parts assisted with the K4 restore I just finished. You just have to keep your eyes open and be the first one there with cash in hand.

Hey Johnie, Yeah I just took a look at the local craigslist before I went out to work on the lawn tractor and there it was. You just never know. I was thinking about what wheels for a cafe project I want to do and thought the lesters might work. Now I have 3 choices, lesters, front end off a 1981 CB900F with the honda mags, or I might do conventional spoke wheels in black. Decisions, decisions!! The lawn tractor is still on hold!!

Parts bike my ass! It has a title and only needs ONE part. That's an easy part to find and cheaper then the bike, an ENGINE.

Yeah throw a motor in it, have a nice 750 for around a G-note..

 Dont worry about the lawnmower, I have had way  more fun on CB 750s than I ever had with lawnmowers..
