dowel pins
« on: June 01, 2010, 06:32:23 PM »
I beginning to reassemble my Honda 750 engine and the service manual refers to dowel pins that go outboard of the exhaust on the posts in the block of the engine.  It's been a couple months since I took it apart and I don't remember seeing anything that went there.  There is a recess around the post.  Help is appreciated.

Items 10 and 11 locate cylinder to case and head.

PIN,KNOCK 12X15   (cyl to case)

9430112220
PIN,KNOCK 12X22   (cyl to head)

Is that what you are after?

Thanks.  What is the best way to get the pistons back into the jugs?  Looks like a two person operation.

Yep at least two people. Put two cyliders up on the upward stroke and use your fingers to get one ring on both pistons in at the same time. Be carefull because its easy with new rings to pop one out of the grove and snap it off. Do this until all three are in. It should take almost no force once you have the ring compressed enough to slide into the bore. Get the two pistons in and rotate the motor over holding the cam chain up then work the other two in. Also use spray on copper coat for the base head and valve cover gaskets great stuff no leaky.
