Where to get parts?
« on: May 19, 2010, 02:47:43 PM »
Well, I am new to this bike thing. I have an 82 cb650 that a family member is working on rebuilding for me. He has tasked me with finding the parts.

I work on computers, fix them, build them, recover data, forensics, that sort of thing. I also do Home automation, security camera systems etc. If you need to find cheap parts for any of these systems, I can tell you a list of websites to go to to get the parts below wholesale. Amazing deals are out there to be had, if you know where to look.

That being said, I figure there must be some sites like that out there for Bike parts. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find them??

Thanks in advance.
Josh

I would suggest finding your local dealer.  Someday, when your family member isn't around, you may need a dealer.  And what will you do if he's gone out of business?

Yes, I agree that sometimes supporting a local dealer is a great thing. In my case however my local mechanic just had bypass surgery and the big dealership in my area is chock full of crooks that charge you for work that they don't do. How hard is it to actually rebuild a carb when you are paid for it?? Really...  Wound up having to go up and get my money back.

Anyway I digress, thanks for the help!

I'm sure that the OWNER of the dealership doesn't know that work that is paid for isn't getting done.  No business owner likes business leaving and never coming back.  A service manager, on the other hand, doesn't always see the long term picture.

Where are you located?
