carb synch tool?
« on: June 24, 2010, 11:41:30 AM »
Which carb synch tool do people recommend for a '78 750k?  I know some make their own, others swear by the old ones that used mercury, etc.

Thanks

the best is the one that shows you when you get them synched. :D

..but my vote is for Morgan Carbtune.

I too vote for the Carbtune, good product. The current exchange rate favors you as well. It cost a good deal more 4-5 years ago when I bought mine.

+4 on Morgan however they are in England and it takes a while to get it but I have seen a US made one that looks exactly like it in the online stores lately but can't recall the name. Price is the same though.

I agree on the Morgan Carbtune too.  It is better than my old mercury gauges.

Not to go against the grain (and the Morgan seems to get nothing but amazing reviews), but if you don't end up going with the Morgan for any reason, I had good luck with the non-mercury Motion Pro. I had read a lot of conflicting reports while doing my research, and ended up taking a chance on it since Sirius Consolidated is about 5 minutes from my place and had them in stock, as opposed to having to order it in.

Figured I'd chime in just in case you too were skeptical about the Motion Pro :)

Cheers.

I've gotten good results with the 4-gauge setup available on eBay.

+1 on the 4 gauge sync from ebay. Works great for me, very easy to use and no mercury to spill.

I paid 105$ when I got mine. That's a good deal, and the tool is fantastic.

well the kit comes with some plastic ones, and they work ok, but i need to order the brass ones that z1 sells that thread into the ports, this gives you a more reliable reading because there's no leaks and your gauges are precise

Well, just ordered the Morgan Carbtune.  They charged 58 british pounds delivered which works out to about $88 us dollars.  Looks like I got a pretty good deal.  I wonder if there will be any extra sort of fee from VISA because of the currency exchange thingy?

Anyway, thanks for everyone's advice.  I'm looking forward to getting my bike all synched up and running right!  ;D

Now is definitely a good time to buy one with the current exchange rate.  Shouldn't be any extra fee.  I order parts from DSS all the time and have never paid any extra fees or import taxes.

The CC company chooses an exchange rate that may be a few percent in their favor. They typically won't show you a single "fee," but they build it in. Compare the total price of the product to what you were charged in dollars, then look at the current currency exchange rates.
